The Jesus We Forgot

A careful look at Revelation 1 reveals how easily faith can stall out when Jesus is shrunk down to something comfortable. It is simple to fall into subtle assimilation, quietly mixing faith with everyday compromises or stacking worldly expectations onto him until he feels small and manageable. John's vision on Patmos completely shatters that scaled-down version of belief. The passage reveals the ruler of the universe standing right among the lampstands, holding the stars, with eyes like fire and a voice like rushing waters. He possesses enough awe and authority to bring someone to their knees, yet he reaches out to say, "Do not be afraid."  Holding both his absolute authority and his deep love serves as a reminder that he is the living one who holds the keys over death itself. Ultimately, the message challenges believers to stop settling for a watered-down faith and allow this grander vision of Christ to reignite the heart.
